Can I Use Microsoft Word for Free?

I'm often asked if there is a free version of Microsoft Word. There is, and there is a great free alternative too. 

Microsoft has a free online website where you can open and edit your documents - with some limitations. For one thing, it won't work if you're not connected to the Internet.

If you'd prefer a programme on your computer, just like the version of Microsoft Word you're used to, then opt for Only Office Docs. It's not owned by Microsoft but it gives Word a run for its money. 

It looks very similar to Microsoft Word, in fact I had to really to look to notice the difference. It also makes light work of opening Microsoft Word files and it provides a lot of the editing features you know and love. And it's free and open source.
